We were visiting with our investigator, and she offered us atole. I guess I must have gotten confused in a different area, because I thought that was something different. It was actually like arroz con leche. My companion asked if it had milk in it, because if it did, she couldn't eat it. Our investigator said, "It has milk, but mostly water. I am sure it will be fine." My companion was like "No, but thanks anyway." Our investigator said "In the name of Jesus, you can have some!"
So there was no arguing with that. We were each served a glass full of it. Then, while our investigator wasn't looking, I ate my companion's as well as mine.
So full!!
I hate feeling overly-full. Thus, I would hate to be an anaconda.
It has been a good week. We have had some really busy, fulfilling days, and a few that were less great. But we go with it.
On Friday night, I played the piano at a funeral. There is nothing like speeding from dinner to get to the church at 5 o clock, only to find out once you get inside that the viewing starts at 5, the actual service starts at 6. Luckily, they gave us work to do so that we wouldn't stand around awkwardly in a room with a dead person I never met, trying to make small talk with family members. We glued pictures onto bookmarks instead.
We were requested by a member to feed her cat this week. I am kind of worried about that one because we are a bit forgetful. At least the cat is huge and could probably hunt small dogs or something if it really needed to.
We had a funny zone meeting last week. It seems like everyone has some time in their mission when they are either not very obedient, or they are obedient but grudgingly so. Experience changes everything. Most of us have finally arrived at a place in which being obedient to countless mission rules doesn't cause overwhelming rebellious feelings. The 2 new elders have yet to find that. Quite a few immature comments were made during the meeting. After the actual meeting was over, we had a few minutes to bear testimony if we wanted to. Everyone talked about obedience. Hopefully it will stick.
Speaking of that, I just want to mention that I know obedience brings blessings. But we are happier when we obey because we love God. If you obey purely with the intent to receive blessings, the blessings seem to take longer to arrive. Everything is a bit of a test in some way. I guess life is like that (probationary state and all).
Well, have a good week!
Love,
Hermana Pace
