Also, when we were in Walmart, I was looking for new colored pencils because I lost the ones I got from Mexico. I told Hna Pollock "I just need to go back to Mexico." She jokingly said "Just go back to Mexico already!" But the people around us didn't understand, and she felt bad because it sounded pretty mean out of context.
I have realized that we teach in three different languages: Spanish, English, and simplified English (for the people from Africa and Burma). I love when we can reach an understanding, despite language differences.
It is interesting to talk about Christmas for week, to look forward to it, to ask everyone else what they will be doing with their family, then spend 1 hour and 15 minutes talking to your own family. I can't say that it is anticlimactic, it is just strange. For a little bit, you almost forget that you are far. Then you are plunged back into this other life and it feels almost like you are deaf.
We had to make a pretty big sacrifice this week. We met a new investigator a little while back. He is completely wonderful, and asks the most thought-provoking questions that show he actually cares. Teaching him feels so natural, like an actual conversation without the awkwardness that sometimes comes when people become self conscious or something. But unfortunately, he doesn't actually live in our area. So we gave his contact information to some other missionaries closer to him, and now I guess we won't see him anymore. But that is life, here at least. Distance is often a problem in some way or another.
An important thing that happened: our investigator got baptized yesterday!! It was so great to see her excited, especially since her family was able to come too. It is such an important step. I don't feel like I did much, but I am glad for the opportunity to be here to be a small part of it. There are so many miracles that I never would have considered miracles before I came here. It is wonderful to see people change for the better. I feel like I already wrote that a few weeks ago, but that is still how I feel.
Have a great week!
Love,
