We had a bit of an odd experience this weekend. We were planning on going to teach a lesson to the family that we have also been doing service with. They called us half an hour before the lesson, but we were in dinner and couldn't respond. We called them afterwards, but no one answered. No one was at home. The next morning we were supposed to go over for service. Still no one home, still no answer. There was still no answer when we called on Sunday. I had no idea that you could just lose an entire family like that. I mean, sometimes people ignore us, but this is different. It is a bit of a mystery.
We found a trailer park and knocked around in it. Through that, we have found two really great people. One will probably have to be passed off to the english elders, but the other has so much potential. She has had some negative experiences with other churches, and we can't wait for her to come and meet the great people in this ward.
We did a bit more service than usual this week too. We mowed a yard, and we had to go over it twice because it was so overgrown. I'm pretty sure that was the hottest day of the week. After that, we went and helped someone take all of their stuff out of their cabinets and put box them up because they are redoing parts of the kitchen.
No one was home on the Fourth of July. We could hear a lot of fireworks from our house, but we couldn't see many. They are more into big shows here than personal fireworks in front of your house. I am sure they looked pretty cool over the lakes.
Last week I shared a quote about spirituality. We have been studying a bit more on that topic recently, especially how it concerns impulses and desires. We are kind of in a healthy eating competition with the elders in our ward. From what I have learned recently, anything that you do can be placed into one of two categories. Either it is something that follows the animal/natural man/base tendencies, or it promotes spirituality. Giving into temptation only feeds the animal side of you. We have all been talking about that a lot as we have been trying to rationalize things and gradually become better. The application is always harder than the theory.
Anyway, have a good week!
Love,
Hermana Pace
